Safe, potable water is a necessity in facilities that care for or accommodate people. Boil Water Alerts can be more than a nuisance in these locations. Dire consequences can occur when proper disinfection processes do not happen. When a Boil Water Advisory is issued, there are three possible water disinfection methods to use in order to ensure water is pathogen free. Germicidal ultraviolet (UV-C) disinfection has been recognized for decades as powerful, safe, chemical-free, and economical — perfect for large facilities during boil water alerts. Atlantic Ultraviolet Corporation’s UV-C water disinfection systems operate automatically and with minimal attention. Virtually all microorganisms are susceptible to ultraviolet disinfection.
UV-C Disinfects Water in Various Large Facilities During Boil Water Alerts

- Hospitals and medical centers
- Nursing homes
- Apartment and condo complexes
- Hotels and resorts
- Universities
- Incarceration facilities
Hospitals, medical centers, nursing homes, and incarceration centers must have safe water for the well-being of patients and clients. For apartment and condo complexes, on-site water disinfection can differentiate these large facilities during boil water alerts, making them stand out from the competition. Clientele will be attracted to knowing that a Boil Water Notice will not impact their daily routines.
SANITRON® and MEGATRON® UV-C Water Disinfection Systems are Ideal for Large Applications

The SANITRON® and MEGATRON®
have integrated features for optimum safety and ease of maintenance. Purifiers use STER-L-RAY ® UV-C Lamps
that are made in the USA and emit ultraviolet wavelengths at 254 nanometers, a level that deactivates microorganism DNA and stops their ability to reproduce.
UV-C lamp replacement is only required about once a year or every 10,000 hours of operation. UV-C lamp change and quartz sleeve cleanings can occur without full system shut-down, keeping continuous disinfected water supplied. An integrated drain fitting allows you to easily drain water from the purifiers. A sight port plug indicates the lamps are working. No specialized training or tools are required for lamp change and maintenance.
Our SANITRON® S2400C (40 gallons per minute) model was initially designed with the modular design platform in mind — allowing for 80 gallons per minute treatment with two purifiers used together, 160 gallons per minute with four purifiers, and so on. You can add units or remove as your location’s needs change. While not all applications require it, optional monitors provide an intensity reading, along with Promate™
optional accessories that provide an audible alert, water shut-down, or a combination of both. A patented, Dual-Action Wiper Mechanism makes quartz sleeve cleaning a simple task. Models S37C, S50C, and S2400C are certified to NSF®/ANSI 61 and 372
— Drinking Water System Component — Health Effects and Lead Content.

The MEGATRON® UV-C Water Disinfection System has a modular design that makes it a great solution for large facilities during boil water alerts. Purifiers process between 90 and 450 GPM, and multiple units can plumb together for thousands of gallons processed. In addition to the Sight Port Plug, a Lamp Indicator Light alerts you at a glance that the lamps are operating. The MEGATRON®
also features optional monitors and has an optional automatic wiper that you program to handle quartz sleeve cleaning with little maintenance.
The keys for successful UV-C disinfection are a quality constructed system, the correct installation, consistent maintenance, and the proper size system for your water volume.
